Square Tube Driveline

The cheap and easy way to beef up your front driveline.

Recommended for offroad use only, due to the intense vibrations of the non balanced square tube.
Personally I have had it up to 45mph and only a slight vibration was noticed, but it all depends on the centering of the yolks in the tube.

On this driveline, seamless 1/4" thick tube was used, in the dimensions of 2 1/2" inner and outer. You can purchase this tube at almost any local steel supplier.

The dimensions were taken from center of u-joint on t-case to center of u-joint on front end.
The length of the yolk and c/v were then subtracted from the total length.
The remainder was then divided by .66 to give you the length of the upper and lower tube. This was done to give maximum slip of the driveline and equal inner/outer travel.

A 1310 yolk and u-joint were welded to the 2 1/2" outer tube, to fit the Dana 44 up front.

A conversion joint had to be made to account for the angle of the driveline, due to the 8" of total suspension lift.
I called local driveline shop Six States Dist. on Columbia Blvd. A company i have used many time before, and would highly reccomend to anyone in the area.


The product was a 1310/1330 C/V which cost me $225 including the new front output yolk for my np205 t-case.

The C/V was attached to round tubing at the driveline shop. It fit the inside of the 2 1/2" inner perfectly. The C/V slid into the tube, which was predrilled with holes to weld up for added strength. It was welded up bolted on with new hardware and straps, and has survived 100% since.
